Stena Bulk has agreed to acquire the remaining 50% of Stena Weco shares from its partner, WECO Shipping. Stena Weco is now wholly owned by Stena Bulk. Stena Weco's head office will remain in Denmark (as well as regional offices in Singapore, Dubai, and Houston). As part of the agreement between Stena Bulk and Weco, WECO Shipping will continue to manage its controlled fleet within Stena Weco's logistics system. 2011: CHARGED WITH PASSION
The initial ownership (50-50) by Stena Bulk and Weco Shipping merged two family companies – one Danish, one Swedish – with a collective heritage dating back to 1883 and 1946, respectively. Both charged with passion and determination to serve the customers and embrace the challenges ahead by creating one of the largest MR owner and operation houses in the world.
A HIGHLY SOPHISTICATED FLEET
The merger of Stena Bulk and Weco Shipping made the accumulated MR fleet grow rapidly to include nearly 40 highly sophisticated tankers. And we have continued to grow. Stena Weco currently operates around 65 vessels, about half of which are owned and half chartered.
2017: THE NEXT STEP
After six very successful years and operational collaboration, the two owners’ ambitions for the future changed. Within an agreement reached in March of 2017, Stena Bulk purchased the remaining 50% of the shares in Stena Weco. Its former partner Weco Shipping continues to run its controlled fleet in the Stena Weco logistic system as the successful journey continues.
WELCOME 13 IMOIIMAX VESSELS
From 2014 and onwards, we are welcoming ten IMOIIMAX vessels to the Stena Weco fleet. These modern Eco tankers serve a growing need for more versatile vessels that are able to perform traditional cpp as well as catering to bulk chemicals, bio diesel, alcohols, and edible oil transportation.
Still, our journey has just begun.
Stena Bulk provides transports of crude oil and refined petroleum at sea. Their mission is to offer solutions to their costumers’ total need for transportation and logistics. Their belief is that oil should always travel first class.
